Dali mayor Leontios Kallenos said on Monday he was ready to take legal action due to the delay over the relocation of the area’s asphalt plant to Mitsero.

A recent court order froze the planned move, after the 12 communities around Mitsero blocked works, claiming the plant would affect both the environment and people’s health.

“Should the situation require, we will not hesitate to take legal action and we will also involve the municipalities of Geri, Tseri and Latsia, in order for our request to have more grounds and chances of success,” Kallenos wrote in a letter addressed to the citizens of Dali.

In the letter, Kallenos added that people in Dali are currently caught between political plays.

“The state has guaranteed the relocation of the plant, but the delay in the process leaves the people of Dali, who have been affected by the issue for quite some time, with no other choice but to take legal action,” the letter concluded.
