New terminal at Ercan-Tymbou airport

Tymbou (Ercan) airport

Turkish-Cypriot ‘deputy minister’ of tourism, Fikri Ataoglou, has announced that on November 15 a new terminal at the Ercan-Tymbou airport in north Nicosia will be inaugurated.

As reported by the media, Ataoglou stated that the new terminal is expected to usher in an increase in tourism for the 2023 season, with visitors arriving through Turkey.

Twenty-six planes per month can be served by the existing airstrip although larger planes cannot be served and passengers are transported by smaller ones, but this will change with the airport’s new terminal upgrade, Ataoglou said.

Ataoglou added that electricity and lighting in the new section of the airport will be ready by end of September. The transfer of services and inspections will follow, he continued, and once they are completed, the inauguration will take place.
