August where have you gone? The final days of the month are already here and with September just around the corner, cultural event organisers are back to planning a new season of performances and happenings. Bars and live music venues around the island are organising the last music gigs of August.

On Thursday Evergreen Vegan & Vegetarian café-bar in central Nicosia hosts the musical duo of Stephanie and Charis for a live acoustic session. Starting from about 9pm, the duo will perform songs mainly from the grunge, rock and pop scenes of the 90s onwards.

Across the island, in Paphos’ Peyia a local café-bar will welcome a musician for his debut performance at the venue. Sam Robinson will be at Searay’s on Friday, playing music and all-time classics from all the decades between 6pm and 9pm.

In Larnaca, the Tudor Inn Bar has another musical meeting in store on Friday as Stephanos Constandinou with his project SCEViP, once again returns to the bar for a unique live performance. Using live looping with his electric violin, Stephanos will cover artists including Muse, Iron Maiden and Tool, as well as original music to deliver a full band performance.

Wrapping up the music events of the week, and the month too, is a concert at Cornaro Art Institute by a sister duo. Eleni and Victoria Mavromoustaki return to the Cyprus concert platform with an explosive new programme for violin and piano on Sunday. Featuring works by Brahms, Mozart and Schubert, the sisters will enchant audiences with an evening of refined and sophisticated music. The graceful Brahms sonata in G will be followed by the Variations on Duport’s Minuet by Mozart and concluded by the Schubert Fantasie in C.
