Tatar orders investigation into alleged misbehaviour by two UN peacekeepers

Turkish Cypriot leader Ersin Tatar has ordered an immediate investigation into media allegations that two members of the UN peacekeeping force in Cyprus caused damages and misbehaved at Glapsides beach in  Famagusta.

The Turkish Cypriot ‘authorities’ called a meeting with the UN Secretary General’s special representative in Cyprus Colin Stewart and requested to a serious and speedy joint investigation into the incident.

According to the Turkish Cypriot statement, the UN said it was aware of the seriousness of the incident and that the UN military police are ready to do the necessary work in cooperation with ‘authorities’ in the north.
