President Nicos Anastasiades is expected to attend Queen Elizabeth II’s funeral on September 19 in London on his way to the UN General Assembly on September 23, according to reports on Tuesday.

All necessary actions are currently being taken to arrange for the President’s attendance at the funeral, according to CNA. On Monday, the president signed the book of condolences opened at the UK High Commission in honour of the Queen.

Anastasiades will be attending along with many other heads of state and government.

The President is expected to depart from Cyprus on September 15 for Athens, where he will attend and make a speech at a dinner organised by the Cyprus Shipping Association.

Following that, he will fly to London for the Queen’s funeral.

On September 19 after the Queen’s funeral, the President will fly out to New York where he will address the UN General Assembly on September 23.

In London, President Anastasiades was scheduled to attend and speak at a Cypriot diaspora dinner, which was cancelled due to the national mourning for the Queen.

Greek Prime Minister Kyriacos Mitsotakis, who is scheduled to meeting French President Emmanuel Macron, will brief Nicosia on his meetings.
