Police seized two kilos of cannabis from a farmhouse in the Famagusta area on Saturday night and arrested the 27-year-old occupant, they said.

Shortly after 7pm officers conducted a search of the residence with a warrant. Inside they found in a plastic bag with seven small packages containing what they believed to be cannabis with a combined weight of approximately two kilos.

The drugs were seized as evidence and the suspect arrested for possession with intent to sell.

In a separate incident, also in the Famagusta area, police arrested a 33-year-old man for drugs possession and having a firearm with a silencer.

During the search they said they found cannabis weighing 84 grammes, a trace amount of the narcotic MDMA, two grinding mills and two precision scales with traces of cannabis, while they also allegedly found a single-barrel shotgun with a muffler.

The registered owner of the weapon is a relative of the suspect.
