An evening of jazz is coming up in Erimi village as the Cyprus Wine Museum and its Commandaria Orchestra & Friends concert series welcome Bulgarian pianist Dimitar Gorchakov for his debut concert in Cyprus. On November 4, the pianist will transform the wine museum’s Knight’s Courtyard into an intimate concert hall.
Gorchakov’s Solo Jazz Piano Concert is focused on his recently released album Tomorrow’s Past from 2021. “The title of this album,” say organisers, “offers the idea of a moment inspired by the past which does not last, a moment of the future to which it does not arrive, and one moment – now – which comes to life….”
Classical music, jazz and folklore intertwine through the prism of the virtuoso pianist and come together through Gorchakov’s music which he will present to islanders for the first time. A jazz pianist from Sofia, Gorchakov graduated with a degree in classical music and jazz piano from the National Music Academy in Bulgaria. He has been improvising since a young age and his talent to improvise has become a source of artistic expression in recent years.
He participates in many projects, such as improvisational theatre, performances, music for the moment, experimental electronic projects, traditional jazz and Bulgarian folklore and his Cyprus debut will offer a small taste of his art.
