Police on Monday arrested and took into custody a 27-year-old woman who tried to depart from Paphos airport for impersonation.

According to a police statement, around 2pm on Monday, when the woman presented herself in the departures area with a French ID card, it became clear the photo on the ID was not of the woman.

When interrogated, she allegedly confessed that she is an African national and an applicant for political asylum. The woman was arrested for impersonation and held in custody, while Paphos CID continues investigations into the case.
