Construction company fined over poor safety protocols

A construction company was fined €8,000 on Wednesday by the Nicosia district court after it found that a worker was seriously injured due to poor health and safety standards.

The labour inspection department had pressed the case against Pepsis & Sons Construction Ltd after a worker suffered serious hand injuries while cleaning equipment using heavy machinery.

The company was further fined for failing to swiftly inform the Nicosia labour inspection office and for not writing up the report as stipulated.
