Police arrested three people for allegedly plotting a murder, after a 61-year-old man was found dead outside his apartment building, the authorities said on Thursday.

According to police, the man, Dorotheos Demetriades, was found beaten after police received an anonymous tip about some people attacking an individual in Latsia, Nicosia.

Police received the call at 6:45pm, and upon their arrival at the scene they found the man on the ground outside his apartment building.

He told them that he was beaten by a group of people.

However, a few minutes after police arrived, he fainted. Upon examination by the ambulance crew at the scene, the man showed no signs of life.

State pathologists were called to the scene, following his death, and upon initial examination they determined that the 61-year-old had various external injuries.

During their investigations at the scene, police secured witness testimony about three individuals, a 35-year-old man, a 31-year-old woman, and a 26-year-old man, for which authorities later received arrest warrants.

All three were arrested.

A post-mortem will be carried out on the 61-year-old on Thursday at noon.

Police are continuing their investigations.
