Peyia’s 2022 roadworks cost one million euros

Paving works of a million euros were carried out in Peyia, Paphos during 2022, the town’s mayor Marinos Lambrou said on Saturday.

According to Lambrou, the asphalt paving works were conducted to better the lives of the people living in the area.

He added that the works set to start of Michalakis Kyprianou Avenue are a milestone, which will change the entire area of Peyia and turn it into a new modern city.

The works to be done on the avenue will start from Coral Bay and reach the entrance of Peyia, he said.

He added that they are also working on seaside walking path in Peyia that is expected to start in the village and reach the little Ayios Georgios port, 14 km away.

The first phase, which has already started, is to cost €3 million.

Lambrou said that it is an urban development project that will have basketball courts, an outdoor gym, and an amphitheatre.

He also said that there are some stadiums, futsal, basketball and sports that enhance the sport and entertainment of the youth.

The mayor also mentioned that the roundabout located on Ayios Georgios Avenue with Akamandos, worth approximately €200 thousand, has started.

Coming up this year, Lambrou said that the next phases of the seaside walking path are expected to be started, and that one had already received approval, while the construction of wave breakers and the linear park plan are the design phases, with licences expected soon.
