The Paphos District Court on Sunday issued a one-day detention order against a 78-year-old tourist for illegal possession and transportation of ammunition.

According to police spokesperson and head of CID Michalis Nicolaou, on Saturday an x-ray employee at Paphos airport noticed a suspicious object in the man’s hand luggage on the scanner.

The object was determined to be a military cartridge with a 9mm diameter. The 78-year-old owner of the luggage was arrested and detained for a day.
