Over 2,000 foreign nationals have been evacuated to Cyprus from Sudan, foreign ministry spokesman Theodoros Gotsis said on Tuesday.

According to Gotsis a total of 2,350 people have been evacuated, taking into account the three flights that arrived on Monday.

Gotsis said that another flight with Australians is set to arrive later in the day on Tuesday, while earlier a flight with Britons arrived.

Cyprus is operating under the Estia plan, which is used during crises to welcome foreign nationals, and then send them onward to their home countries.
