Police announce crackdown on indoor smoking

A nationwide campaign to tackle indoor smoking is underway police said on Wednesday. Offenders will be fined up to €85 with Friday and Saturday nights set to be heavy with inspections.

The campaign began on April 28 and will last until June 17. Officers will be seeking to make sure the ban on indoor smoking is upheld, with a particular focus to be paid to nightclubs, where the law if often disregarded.

Offenders will be fined, and businesses will also be reported.
