Police on Thursday announced the arrest of two persons for burglary and theft, illegal possession of property and illegal stay in the Republic.

The case under investigation concerned burglary and thefts committed on Tuesday in Nicosia. Police arrested two suspects aged 37 and 30.

According to the report, a mobile phone, a tablet and a laptop were stolen from a residence. In the course of investigation police on Wednesday identified a person trying to sell a mobile phone in an electronics shop. From a body search that followed, the 37-year-old suspect was also found in possession of a tablet and a laptop computer, similar to those stolen and he was arrested for evident offences.

Police questioned the man and obtained testimony against a second suspect, aged 30, who was located and arrested a short time later.

The two were taken to Nicosia police station where it was established they were illegal residents and they were re-arrested for that offence based on court warrants.
