A four-year-old boy has died in Paphos, with first reports pointing towards a drowning, police said on Tuesday.

According to Paphos CID head and spokesman Michalis Nicolaou, around 10.45am on Tuesday morning, the unconscious child was taken by his parents to a private doctor, who determined he had died.

Nicolaou said that at first glance, the death is believed to be related to drowning, as the child was found floating unconscious in an apartment complex swimming pool.

The circumstances surrounding his death are being investigated, he added.
