Music, parties and writing at Prozak

Kafeneio Prozak has a lot celebrate. In 2023, it marks 10 years since it opened in central Nicosia and has since hosted more than 450 music nights, book presentations, open mic nights, exhibitions and poetry readings. On Friday, it hosts a birthday party celebrating its decade-long journey. The anniversary party will kick off at 12pm and until 11pm the venue will serve its signature brandy sours, alongside other drinks, while three DJs on the decks play funky music.

That is not all Prozak has in store at the end of May. On Tuesday, artist Nwaina will perform a set of original songs and the stories behind them. The live music will begin at 8.30pm, with the musician taking the floor among Prozak’s armchairs, bookcases and table lamps.

On the following evening, it will be time for Cyprus writers to take over the floor. The Writers Taking Over Prozak event will be a two-day occasion, on May 31 and June 1, bringinig readers and writers closer to engage with the world of books. Twelve writers will set up their space at the coffee shop presenting their work which covers a variety of literary topics, styles and themes.
