The Famagusta Lifeguard Association has recognised the courage and skill of a teenager who saved the life of a two-year-old child two weeks ago.

The incident happened in Paralimni on May 13, around 5pm, when the toddler was found by his parents and pulled unconscious from the swimming pool of their residence.

Seventeen-year-old Anestis Karakolides, who was at the scene, stepped in and performed CPR on the boy who regained consciousness.

The young man recently successfully passed the exams to obtain the Brass Cross, the second stage of certification in lifesaving and first aid.
