Salamis Lines expands operations with acquisition of new ship

Salamis Lines Ltd, a member of the Salamis Organisation, announced this week that it has acquired a new container ship named “IONIA”, which has subsequently been registered in the Cypriot Registry.

According to the official announcement, the “purchase of the new vessel was part of the company’s expansion of activities in the field of maritime transportation”.

The ship is scheduled to commence its operations at the end of June, with the first voyages taking place in early July. It will serve weekly routes between the ports of Piraeus, Limassol, and Ashdod.

The “IONIA” vessel, constructed in 2000, has a total capacity of 8,337 tons. It can transport 889 TEUs (Trans Europe Services) and containers of all types, including 20/40/45 ft.

“With the addition of the new ship, “IONIA,” Salamis Lines provides the commercial world with the opportunity for further development of its trading activities, always focusing on reliable arrivals and departures, reliability, quality, and professionalism,” the announcement concluded.
