Man seriously injured after crossing motorway

A 43-year-old man is in critical condition at Nicosia general, after he tried to cross the motorway and was hit by a car, police said on Monday.
According to authorities, the man was attempting to cross the Limassol-Nicosia motorway at around 9pm on Sunday near the Kalavasos exit, when a car driven by 27-year-old hit him.
The man, a foreign worker in the area’s farms, was rushed to the Nicosia general’s A&E, where doctors said he had fractures on his right tibia and fibula, broken ribs, bleeding in his kidneys, and bleeding in his right lung.
Doctors said that his condition is critical.
Larnaca police spokesman Charis Hadjiyiasemis said that the driver was given an alcotest, which was negative.
Police are continuing their investigations into the incident.
