The drug squad on Thursday arrested an 18-year-old Limassol resident for possession of over three kilos of cannabis.

According to the police, an unknown person went to a Limassol courier company shortly after noon to post a package to an address abroad. The strong smell emanating from the parcel raised suspicions that it contained drugs and the drug squad (Ykan) was informed

Members of Ykan arrived at the scene and carried out an inspection of the parcel where they found it contained four packages of cannabis weighing approximately 3.5kg.

Further investigation turned up testimony against the 18-year-old, who was arrested shortly after with a court warrant.

In a search of his home which followed an additional 14g cannabis was located and seized, as well as a precision scale, a crowbar, and two mobile phones.
