Ten men accused of people smuggling will appear at the Paphos District Court on Wednesday after the court was unable to decide on Tuesday whether or not to remand them in custody.

All ten were arrested on Monday, with police requesting in Tuesday’s court hearing that they be remanded for eight days as their investigations continue, but defence lawyers said the criteria for a remand had not been met.

They added that no formal accusation had been made against the ten suspects. The police maintain that the ten have committed multiple offences since 2019.
