UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres described Cyprus as an important partner, reiterating he will continue to make every effort to find a solution to the Cyprus problem, it emerged on Friday.

During an event where Ambassador Maria Michael presented her credentials as the new Permanent Representative of the Republic of Cyprus to the UN, a day earlier, Guterres said his commitment to the Cyprus problem lay in finding a solution on the basis of the UN Security Council decisions and resolutions.

Michael conveyed to the Secretary General the commitment of Cyprus’ President Nikos Christodoulides to work towards resuming negotiations.
