Police on Sunday said it arrested 33 people living in Cyprus illegally, as part of an operation which unfolded in Nicosia.

Procedures to deport them are already underway, police specified.

In the past week alone between December 3-10, a total of 207 people living in the country illegally were repatriated, either voluntarily or as part of a deportation process.

Since the start of the year, the sum amounts to 9,075 people.

Police stressed it was working closely with the migration department to “maximise the number of returns.”
