A man who escaped to the Republic after causing a car crash in which a motorcyclist was seriously injured in November was arrested on Wednesday night.

The arrest came as he attempted to cross back to the north at the Astromeritis crossing point.

The crash occurred on the road between Peristeronari and Pentayia, with the man crashing his vehicle into the rear of a motorcycle, seriously injuring its rider, and then driving off.

He then met up with his father, who drove him to the Astromeritis crossing point, where he crossed into the Republic.

Police then tracked down and arrested his father, charging him with covering up a crime.

The police’s investigation is ongoing.
