The Cyprus Stock Exchange (CSE) on Wednesday announced the initiation of a consultation process by the Ministry of Finance regarding the proposed bill for the privatisation of the exchange.

Titled “The Privatisation of the Cyprus Stock Exchange, the Central Depository and the Central Register of Securities and Transfer of the Staff and Positions of the Cyprus Stock Exchange to the Ministry of Finance Law of 2023,” this bill arises from a pivotal decision made by the Council of Ministers within the overarching framework of the CSE’s privatisation.

At its core, the bill outlines a structured pathway for the privatisation of the CSE, incorporating a meticulously designed process involving the competitive selection of a strategic investor.

The Ministry of Finance has set a deadline of January 15, 2024, for interested parties to submit their comments and opinions on this bill.

The announcement explained that this open call seeks valuable insights and perspectives from stakeholders and interested entities within the financial sector.

All pertinent details, including the bill itself and additional information associated with the consultation, have been made available on the Ministry of Finance’s website.
