Household hazardous waste collection units will be temporarily operating in Limassol and Paralimni, it was announced on Thursday.
According to the municipalities’ announcement, the purpose of the initiative is to inform the public about procedures for collection of hazardous residential waste.
The public will be able to dispose of small appliances and electronic devices, pesticides, fertilizers, insecticides, lubricants and engine oils; as well as cleaning products, printer inks and toners; paints and varnishes, solvents; pharmaceutical products and batteries.
In Limassol the unit will be operating at the Enaerios parking lot from January 8 to 12, 2024. The operating hours of the mobile unit on January 8, 10 and 12, will be from 10am to 1pm. On January 9 and 11 the unit will remain open from 12pm to 3pm.
In Limassol the mobile unit will operate for five days and then move to another location.
In Paralimni the unit will operate out of the town hall parking lot from 10am to 1pm on Thursday and Friday.
Members of the public are invited to stop by to be informed about hazardous waste, its sorting, and how to dispose of it.
It is noted that it is strictly forbidden to deposit waste in areas outside the mobile units and outside of their hours of operation.
The initiative is part of a project on separate collection and management of hazardous household waste financed by Norwegian funds and implemented by the department of environment, in collaboration with the Nicosia development company, Anel.
