The offices of migrant support group Kisa were destroyed on Friday after an explosive device shattered the glass, destroyed equipment, and all of its records
The group said it had received threats by groups driven by “racist and nationalist motives” who it believes carried out the attack.
Akel was quick to condemn the incident saying “such actions are not only directed against the targets but also against the rule of law and legitimacy in our country.
“We call on the authorities to immediately solve the case and bring the perpetrators to justice.”
Kisa charged the government had a role to play with its “racist, xenophobic and nationalist rhetoric over migration issues” that have created conditions that normalise violence against minorities and those who stand for them.
The group also said Kisa had reported dozens of complaints that its members have received threats, harassment and threats against their life.
“So far, not a single report has been investigated and not a single criminal investigation has been carried out against anyone.”
Kisa was formerly registered as a charity but was scrapped off the registrar by the interior ministry, with the group suggesting on Friday this had created conditions that led people to believe Kisa was illegal.
