A new yellow weather warning has been issued for Saturday between 12pm and 5pm, as temperatures are expected to reach 41 degrees Celsius inland, the Met Office reported.

In the mountains, temperatures are forecasted to climb to 32 degrees Celsius.

The forestry department has also announced that the fire risk alert will remain at red for Saturday. The department emphasised that lighting a fire without permission is prohibited and constitutes a serious offense. Under the Forestry Law of 2012, such an offense is punishable by up to ten years in prison, a fine of up to €50,000, or both. Similarly, under the Prevention of Rural Fires Law of 1988, the penalties can include up to five years in prison, a fine of up to €20,000, or both.

Lighting a fire for food preparation is only allowed in designated barbecues within picnic areas.
