Increased traffic in Nicosia along with a reported event to be attended by President Nikos Christodoulides caused tailbacks in the centre of the capital on Wednesday morning.

A police spokesman told the Cyprus Mail they had heard reports of increased traffic near the parliament building and Nicosia’s municipal theatre, partly due to a planned appearance of Christodoulides at an event on the day.

He added that no roads in the area had been closed, but that the tailbacks had been caused by a higher than usual volume of traffic due to the planned event.
