The three 24-year-old men who attacked a taxi after its driver refused to drive them to the hotel in Larnaca in which they were staying were ordered to pay damages to the taxi’s owner on Monday.

The trio appeared in court and were each handed €650 fines, while also being asked to stump up a combined total of €550 in damages between them.

They were arrested on Saturday morning after a taxi driver reported to the police that three young men had asked for a ride to their hotel. He said he had refused because they were drunk, but that the three men had begun to attack his vehicle.

The Larnaca police’s deputy director Harris Hadjiyiasemi said the taxi driver had then called the police, who arrived and arrested the trio.
