A mosque in Kalavasos village in the Larnaca district has been fully restored and handed over and more such projects in the south and north will be delivered over the next few days, Greek Cypriot co-chair of the technical committee on cultural heritage Sotos Ktoris said on Wednesday.

Ktoris told the Cyprus News Agency the conservation works, which included structural repairs and decorating, were funded by the EU and implemented by the UNDP.

“Kalavasos mosque, like all monuments in Cyprus, is a living testimony of the history and multicultural heritage of Cyprus, a heritage shaped by centuries of coexistence of religions and cultures,” Ktoris said.

He added that “the maintenance of the mosque reflects our strong will and underlines our common commitment to preserve the monuments inherited by the history of our country.”
