A 22-year-old British citizen was arrested at Larnaca airport on Wednesday for smuggling over 20kg of cannabis.

The passenger had arrived at Larnaca from Bangkok via the United Arab Emirates.

Customs officers scanned and inspected his luggage and found ten airtight packages with cannabis weighing a total of 21kg and 870gr.

The drugs were confiscated and the 22-year-old was arrested and handed over to the police.

Police are investigating the case and a possible connection of the 22-year-old with other people.
