The Larnaca municipality has announced plans to remove abandoned vehicles and other stationary objects left in public or private open spaces. The measure primarily targets car owners attempting to sell their vehicles by leaving them parked in such areas.

This action is based on Article 120 of the Municipalities Law. The municipality has specifically warned the owners of 12 vehicles that these will be deemed abandoned if left in public spaces for more than a week. Vehicle owners are required to move their vehicles within three days of receiving the notice.

If a vehicle has a valid registration certificate and a certificate of suitability, it will be sold at public auction or through a public tender, with the proceeds retained by the municipality. Vehicles without valid documentation or those lacking a certificate of suitability will be classified as end-of-life vehicles and disposed of as waste by a licensed company.

The municipality has urged the public to comply with these instructions. It also clarified that moving a vehicle or object from one road or open space to another does not constitute compliance with the notice.
