Hello 2025! It is the first week of the year and as the holiday season continues, so does the island’s live music scene. Local musicians do what they do best and offer festive music performances throughout the first week of 2025. On this occasion, the focus is on Nicosia’s nightlife.

Sung Mellow return to Prozak on Friday to perform ballads from the jazz world, and blues-folk pieces. With Andrea Panteli on piano, Ermis Michail on guitar and Lefteris Moutzis on vocals, the trio provides a fresh approach to the music genre, with an emphasis on the interaction between the instruments and the voice. Meanwhile, in Prozak’s cosy environment, mulled wine, teas and its famous brandy sours – hot or cold – will be served.

The jazz sounds will continue on Saturday night as the Bopsters Trio prepares for a dynamic set, joined by Will Scott. Taking the stage of Sarah’s Jazz Club, the musicians will perform smooth rhythms, soulful melodies and irresistible grooves to transport listeners to the golden era of jazz. Get ready for this Jazz Swing Night.

More jazz melodies will sound as Sunday arrives too, this time at a local’s favourite venue yet one that is not all that well-known for hosting music nights. At the downtown Plato’s Bar & Grill, Dimitris Miaris, Ron Cool (Irenaeos Koullouras) and Marios Spyrou will play a live jazz jam session at 8pm. What’s more, musicians and vocalists are welcome to join in!

Bringing more of a party vibe, Barking Cats Radio will host its first street event of the year this Sunday. From 3pm to 11pm, a street party will take place downtown on 10 Pericleous Street, wrapping up the year’s first week with a festive, groovy street fiesta. Here’s to an eventful 2025!
