The year 2025 marks 25 years since the Cyprus Classic Motorcycle Museum first opened its doors to visitors in the walled city of Nicosia, near Paphos Gate.

During its quarter of a century, it has welcomed thousands of enthusiasts and friends from all over the world and travelled far and wide through social media.

The museum is celebrating this ‘silver’ anniversary with a series of events and activities, promoting its collection of historical bikes.

Andreas Nicolaou, who set up the museum with motorcycles he had been collecting over the years, knows the story of each one.

The museum, which was listed as a top Tripadvisor destination for 2023 and 2024, hosts 150 motorcycles out of Andreas’ massive 450-bike collection dating from 1914 to 1983, each one connected to life in Cyprus from the early 20th century.

Visitors walking through the museum can follow technology advances, as well as the island’s turbulent history, from the interwar period, through World War II, the uprising against colonial rule, the first years of the Republic of Cyprus and the new models of the 80s and 90s.

Some of the models on display are AJS, MV Agusta, Matchless, Norton, BSA, Triumph, Ariel, BMW James, Moto Guzzi, Royal Enfield, New Hudson and Harley Davidson, to name but a few.

Andreas started collecting motorcycles at a young age. In 2000 he opened the museum, which now houses some of the most impressive pieces of his collection.

Visitors can also learn about restoration techniques, based on years of experience, starting from Andreas’ father Argyros, Andreas himself and now his sons.

The Cyprus Classic Motorcycle Museum participates in events across Cyprus all year round, promoting the collection, cultural heritage and road safety.

It also hosts the annual Fiva world motorcycle week and at least once a month welcomes riders from all over Cyprus, who have established a Friends of the Museum network.

The museum, which is featured in Nicosia’s tourist guide, furthermore takes part in charity and cultural events, and offers tours of the city in a sidecar.
