A crew member of a merchant ship sailing 12 nautical miles south of Cyprus has been delivered to Limassol General Hospital, according to a statement from the Joint Rescue Coordination Centre (JRCC).
It added that “at around 1:45pm today, Sunday 19 January, the JRCC activated the National Search and Rescue Plan “Nearchos” for the purpose of airlifting a crew member of a merchant ship, which was sailing at a distance of 12NM south of Cyprus, within the E-W responsibility area of the Republic of Cyprus (Nicosia FIR)”.
It added that “a helicopter of the 460MED of the Air Command of the General Air Command was mobilised to perform the air evacuation, with a specialised ambulance service nurse. The patient was safely delivered at 15:00 to the Limassol General Hospital”, the statement of the JRCC concludes.Shi
