The Cyprus Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Keve) recently hosted an official dinner celebrating the Chinese New Year, in cooperation with the Cyprus-China Business Association, according to an announcement released on Monday.

The event, held on January 17 in Nicosia, brought together a number of government officials, including Energy Minister George Papanastasiou, and the Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to Cyprus, Liu Yantao.

In addition, a number of business community stakeholders from both countries were also in attendance.

Andreas Tsouloftas, representing Keve, highlighted the significance of strengthening economic and cultural ties between Cyprus and China.

“The chamber is committed to supporting initiatives that create further opportunities for businesses from both countries to collaborate and achieve mutual growth,” he said.

Minister George Papanastasiou focused on the constructive partnership between the two nations, particularly in critical areas such as energy, trade, and investment.

“The government remains steadfast in its commitment to fostering a business-friendly environment that promotes bilateral trade and innovation,” he said.

On his behalf, Chinese Ambassador Liu Yantao “expressed gratitude for the enduring friendship between Cyprus and China”.

He explained that cultural events like the Chinese New Year celebration “provide an excellent opportunity for the public to experience Chinese culture and traditions”.

The Cyprus-China Business Association, under Keve’s umbrella, also reiterated its goal of deepening trade relations between the two countries, saying that “enhanced cooperation between Cyprus and China brings mutual benefits”.
