Serbian Deyian Loi, convicted to life in Cyprus for the quadruple murder in Ayia Napa of June 23, 2016, has been interviewed on a British podcast while in the Nicosia central prisons.

Loi had been a guest on Not Guilty TV Pod Cast, where he implied he had no involvement in the murders of four people, including his boss, saying he would not kill for money.

In the podcast, Loi speaks of the importance of living every second in happiness, because the time lost never comes back.

“We humans, we have one thing. It’s our character. And if we sell our character we are lost. We have no respect for ourselves. We cannot look in the mirror. I will die for my character. My character is my card, it presents me,” he said.

“I am proud of this. I was never selling me, and I would never do it.”

The lifer told the Not Guilty TV that he would never kill for money.

“They can do what they want. I don’t give a s***t for their money from the government. I don’t shoot them for money. I don’t want their money.”

He said the time he spends in jail cannot be given back.

“The time I am inside, nobody can give me this. It is life time. Every second in our lives is very, very expensive. Nobody can give you the time back. You lost it, you lost it for ever.”

Loi gave advice to everyone listening.

“So, in this world, for this, listen everyone, live every second of your life happy, with a smile.

“Don’t try… or say… to regret it later. It is your fault. You took the decision to go these steps and then to suffer and then you are on the deathbed and you remember … ‘What have I done with my life. Nothing.’ So, it is your decision.

“So, this moment live your life but live it correctly, with respect, dignity, honour. This is what you have to do. And never blame your fault on others. If you are at fault, fix your problems alone, fix you first before you try to fix others.”

The case in question was the gangland killing of Ayia Napa businessman Phanos Kalopsidiotis, which took place at the Stone Garden restaurant in Ayia Napa.

Police officer Elias Hadjiefthimiou and his wife Skevi, were also killed in the shooting.

Kalopsidiotis had been having dinner with the couple and their two young children, as well as riot squad Mmad member Yiorgos Charalambous.

Albanian Yani Vogli, one of the shooters, was also killed. A second Albanian, Aleks Burrelli, managed to escape and has never been seen or heard of since.

In a decision dated September 8, 2017, the criminal court had sentenced each of the accused to a life sentence for each of the four victims.

An announcement from the legal service said that the Supreme Court also upheld the convictions and sentences imposed by the criminal court in connection with the attempted murder against two other persons, as well as the charges of conspiracy.

In addition, it was decided that the defendants had a fair trial and that the criminal court had justifiably given weight and accepted as accurate and reliable the testimony of the main prosecution witness.

In June 2020, Kalopsidiotis’ bodyguard Panayiotis Kallitsionis, who was present during the murder, was also gunned down.
