Police on Thursday have identified and located the Limassol man who abused a bicycle delivery driver and stole his mobile device after a TikTok video of the incident shared with the Cyprus Mail sparked public outrage.
The 54-year-old man seen, clearly in the footage, was arrested and charged in writing for theft and harassment, police said, after he verbally attacked a 19-year-old delivery driver and hit him across the face with a mobile, before stealing it and driving off.
The incident unfolded around 7pm on Tuesday after the 19-year-old on his electric delivery bicycle allegedly collided with the rear end of the 54-year-old’s car.
The enraged man then allegedly got out and tried to intimidate the teenager into handing over €400 for damages on the spot, instead of agreeing to call the traffic police to the scene.
The 19-year-old did not report any injuries from the attack and traffic police are separately investigating the claims made about the collision, police said.
