A 60-year-old woman is in serious condition at Nicosia general hospital after suffering burns to her face and hand from a fire that broke out on Friday in a two-storey residence in Strovolos.

A police spokesperson said the woman who lives in the residence is intubated and in serious condition.
A 58-year-old man, who also lives there, was also transferred to the hospital on Friday evening and was discharged after receiving first aid.

The circumstances of the woman’s injury and the causes of the fire are being investigated by the police and fire department.
