Authorities have announced a series of roadworks affecting major roads in Cyprus in the coming days. Drivers are urged to remain patient, follow temporary road signs, and comply with traffic police instructions to ensure safety and smooth traffic flow.

The department of public works has confirmed that between February 5-20, excavation and cable installation will take place along the old Limassol-Nicosia road (B1) between Pyrgos and Moni. A private contractor, working for the electricity authority of Cyprus (EAC), will conduct the works from 8am to 4pm daily. During this period, one lane will be closed for approximately 120 metres, with traffic regulated by temporary traffic lights.

Further disruptions are expected on February 6, between 8am and 3pm. Structural inspections will take place on five bridges along the old Nicosia-Limassol roads (in the Mari and Choirokoitia areas) and the Larnaca-Kofinou road (near Klavdia and Kofinou). Traffic will be restricted to a single lane for 50 metres at a time, controlled by a Stop & Go system. The works will be carried out on one bridge at a time to minimise congestion.

Later that evening, from 8.30pm on February 6 to 6am on February 7, waste collection will take place along the central reservation of the Nicosia-Limassol motorway (A1), between Kalavasos and Moni. The fast lane towards Limassol will be temporarily closed in sections, with traffic redirected to the slow lane under a moving worksite system.

Additionally, between February 10-14, tree trimming will be carried out along both directions of the Limassol-Paphos motorway from 8am until 3pm. The slow lane will be closed in sections of up to 300 metres, with traffic diverted to the fast lane.

Drivers are advised to plan their journeys accordingly and remain cautious in affected areas.
