The Cyprus Post aims for a full switch to electric vehicles by 2034, and on Tuesday said five e-vehicles had already been acquired.

These e-vehicles were “ideal for their needs”, it said, highlighting that they required low maintenance, consumed little power and released zero emissions.

In 2019, the Cyprus Post had acquired electric motorcycles that in addition to the new electric vehicles are replacing diesel and petrol delivery vans. The e-vehicles have since been used on a daily basis for delivery services.

“The strategy of Cyprus Post for the transition to electromobility is an essential move towards sustainable development and environmental protection,” Communications and Works Minister Alexis Vafeades said.

“This decision reinforces European efforts to reduce emissions and improve citizens’ quality of life. We fully support strengthening the green transition, and Cyprus Post is an example for other organisations to follow towards a cleaner and more sustainable future.”

In 2024, e-vehicles doubled their market share to four per cent of total registrations in Cyprus.
