A car arson committed in the early hours in the Paphos district was caught on CCTV with police investigations underway on Monday.

According to reports, the as-yet unidentified man was caught on camera around 4am approaching a luxury vehicle belonging to a 47-year-old, which had been parked in an open space in the Petridia area between Paphos and Emba.

The man was seen dousing the front of the car with a flammable liquid and setting it alight.

Shortly after, a rubbish collection crew noticed the fire and alerted the neighbours who managed to extinguish the blaze with hoses before the fire services’ arrival.

Police conducted investigations at the scene and efforts are focused on identifying and locating the perpetrator.
