History, culture and art meet in a new exhibition at CVAR-Severis Foundation. Titled Journeys to Cyprus: Artists at the Paphos Theatre Excavation, the exhibition presents a collection of works by Australian artists who participated in the long-standing archaeological excavations at the Paphos theatre. Through its exhibits, it explores the relationship between archaeology and artistic interpretation, capturing historical narratives through diverse mediums.

The exhibition will open on Tuesday and run until May 30, supported by the Australian High Commission, marking 50 years of diplomatic relations between Cyprus and Australia. The project also acknowledges over a century of migration and cultural exchange between the two nations.

Apart from showcasing the archaeological process, the exhibition also serves as an artistic and archaeological bridge between Cyprus and Australia, reflecting shared histories, cultural exchanges and contemporary interpretations of the past.

As part of the Journeys to Cyprus exhibition, Australian-Cypriot poet, writer and performer Koraly Dimitriadis will present her award-winning poetry film Yiayia mou (My Grandmother) on May 8, also performing some of her poetry related to being the daughter of Cypriot migrants in the Australian diaspora.
