The Central Bank of Cyprus (CBC) has announced that its total assets and liabilities reached €27.99 billion at the end of the previous month.
According to the balance sheet as of February 28, 2026, the largest single component of the institution’s assets was intra-Eurosystem claims, which amounted to €18.33 billion.
The bank reported that its holdings of gold and gold receivables were valued at €1.64 billion at the end of the February period.
Claims on residents outside the euro area denominated in foreign currency stood at €1.10 billion, while euro-denominated claims on the same group reached €0.59 billion.
Moreover, the figures showed that securities of euro area residents denominated in euro accounted for €6.17 billion of the total.
Other smaller asset categories included €0.02 billion in foreign currency claims on euro area residents and €0.14 billion classified as other assets.
On the liabilities side of the ledger, liabilities to credit institutions related to monetary policy operations represented the largest figure at €17.12 billion.
The value of banknotes in circulation was recorded at €3.22 billion, while liabilities to the general government reached €3.73 billion.
The central bank maintained provisions for future risks totalling €0.60 billion and held €1.64 billion within its revaluation accounts.
Total capital and reserves for the national financial institution were reported at €0.33 billion as of the final day of February.
Additional liabilities included €0.49 billion as the counterpart of special drawing rights allocated by the International Monetary Fund.
