A fire broke out in a car which was parked in a field in the Larnaca district, fire brigade spokesman Andreas Kettis said on Sunday.

He said the fire brigade was informed of the fire at precisely 1.19am, and that the fire caused “extensive damage” to the front of the vehicle, while a “small area of dry grass” adjacent to the vehicle was also burnt.

In total, he said, two fire engines were deployed to extinguish the fire, while investigations into its cause are now ongoing.
