Coronavirus: New measures to determine parliamentary schedule

Parliament 01 (2)

After the holiday season, the House of Representatives hopes to reconvene normally next week, most importantly with the revision of the state budget, which was voted down on December 17 forcing the government to submit another budget bill in January.

However, with new measures regarding the ongoing coronavirus pandemic and a possible lockdown set to be announced on Friday, the manner in which the House will return to work remains to be seen, according to parliamentary spokesperson Sotia Zeniou.

Since last May, most parliamentary committees and all plenary sessions have taken place at the Filoxenia Conference Centre in Aglandja in order to comply with the measures issued by the health ministry.

No plenary sessions have been scheduled so far, although a full House is expected to convene soon to decide on a law regulating the registration of professional photographers in Cyprus. Moreover, the labour committee is expected to meet on January 12.

On Friday, President Nicos Anastasiades is also expected to meet party leaders to discuss the revised budget bill.
