Turkish Cypriot leader visits massive hillside flag

Turkish Cypriot leader Ersin Tatar on Wednesday inspected the site where the massive flag of the breakaway regime in the north on the Pentadaktylos mountain which is currently being spruced up.

In a tweet Tatar said that he went to the site and inspected the repainting works.

He added that the flag represented the Turkish Cypriots’ struggles, their “sovereignty, independence, freedom, martyrs”.

The flag, 425 metres wide and 250 metres high and visible from kilometres away, was painted on the slopes of the Pentadaktylos mountain in the 1980s and has been illuminated at night since 2003.
