In this video, Dr. Eric Berg, a chiropractor specialising in healthy ketosis and Intermittent Fasting, offers a number of natural remedies for a urinary tract infection (UTI).

A UTI is an infection that can occur in the bladder, ureter, urethra, or kidneys. It is the second most common type of infection, and women are more susceptible to it than men. Ninety per cent of UTIs are caused by E. coli, a type of bacteria that occur normally in the colon.

Symptoms of a urinary tract infection can include:

  • Painful urination
  • Frequent urination
  • Blood in the urine
  • Abdominal pain

Natural remedies for a urinary tract infection, include:

  • Increased intake of liquids (drink at least 2.5 litres per day)
  • Taking a food-based vitamin C supplement, not a synthetic version (at least 500mg of natural vitamin C)
  • Drinking unsweetened cranberry juice
  • Taking a good probiotic (that involves lactobacillus bacteria)
  • Taking garlic
  • Drinking uva ursi tea

Maintaining a strong immune system can also help protect against infections, including UTIs.
