A UTI is an infection that can occur in the bladder, ureter, urethra, or kidneys. It is the second most common type of infection, and women are more susceptible to it than men. Ninety per cent of UTIs are caused by E. coli, a type of bacteria that occur normally in the colon.

Natural remedies for a urinary tract infection, include:
- Increased intake of liquids (drink at least 2.5 litres per day)
- Taking a food-based vitamin C supplement, not a synthetic version (at least 500mg of natural vitamin C)
- Drinking unsweetened cranberry juice
- Taking a good probiotic (that involves lactobacillus bacteria)
- Taking garlic
- Drinking uva ursi tea
